I just had a look at this one on the BMW web site and it says the
F650CS uses only 3 liters per 100Km. For a 15 liter tank that will
    give about 500Km range.

Sounds good on both fronts. Can anyone confirm from experience.

that would be full country cycle at 90 kmh not 110 kmh
those figures are not entirely accurate as a lot depends on your riding habits.

We had an '01 F650 GS (same engine) and got nothing like that - more around
    360 kms, or a shade over 4 L /100 kms.

BMW was quoting about 3.5L/100 Km for the small GS.

It could have different gearing/aerodynamics to cause that difference
since the engine is the same.

FWIW I get on my big GS around 4 @ 100kph and about 5 in the city or @
    120kph

Still if they get 3 on the highway thats pretty good I think?

Fuel consumption figures quoted by OEM's are often understated - the
testing procedure isn't realistic. How does the gearing ratios of the
    CS compare to the GS?

My '99 Pegaso gets 5L/100km cruising at 110km/h, and 5.5L/100km
fanging. 21L tank - good for almost 400km.

Yeah, theoretically :)) (and practically, most times)
Remember of being on Mick's back to carry extra petrol for his Across on the
6-peaks #2 and the first time he used it was when I ran dry, hehehe.
Fanging the Peg (in the good old days when I didn't know what fear was :))
with a weeks worth of gear on the back, she ran dry in the mountains after
    290km.
    Bone-dry that is...
Musta been a load of shitty fuel from the last fill-up, I guess, mostly
    water :))
    cheers

BMW use a DIN standard to test to, so comparing the bm bikes is very
instructive. If other manufactures were to test (to the same standard)
then we could compare their products ... of course there is no incentive
for them to do so ... unless you ask when buying.

The point of the standard to to get everyone doing the same thing so you
can compare. True the standard won't represent you in real life... but
    them we are all different.
