BMW ABS Computer Question

My '91 K100RS has a defective ABS computer (not uncommon...) and I
spotted another computer on Ebay and bought it...

Now (a little late, perhaps?) I find myself wondering about the
compatibility between the bike I have and the ABS computer I bought,
    which is from a '86 K100RS.

The plug appears to be the same, except for a plastic feature on the
'86 computer which keeps the plug from my bike from seating. The
mechanical mounting for the two boxes is entirely different, with the
'91 sliding down vertically behind the battery and the '86 sliding
into a plastic housing under the toolkit box (anyone need one of
those?) This wouldn't really present a problem though...

I can certainly modify the plug easily enough if in fact this ABS
computer WILL work... but haven't been able to find any definitive
info on the compatibility between the two.

Anyone out there dealt with this before?

    TIA,

Are you *sure* you bought an ABS box and not a FI controller?

Well, it's go the same connector as my ABS box... (a very, very
    unusual connector).

Where did you find a 1986 bike with ABS?

The box was listed on Ebay as a "computer", and I made a (bad?)
assumption that if it had the same plug it had to be an ABS computer.
I wasn't aware there was another model of computer that uses the same
plug on non-ABS models (is there?).

I don't know which connectors BMW uses for their ABS. I was just puzzled because I don't recall ABS
being used before 1988 and the "under seat" mounting, which is where the FI box is mounted on my '85
    K100.

According to my BMW motorcycle book "BMW was the first motorcycle company to
introduce antilock brakes with the 1987 K100".

Interesting... I have to wonder where all the other wires in that
twenty-something wire connector go if not to the ABS (on my '91, they
go all over the place to ABS components). Curious...

I did the same thing. I have a '91 K100RS-16v. The ABS computer was on the
blink for a couple of years before I finally did something and got a second
    hand unit from Ebay.
There are 2 flavors of ABS-1 computer (rectangular black plastic box). The
early ones have ABO1.5 on the case in (IIRC) white writing. This is what my
replacement one had. The later ones (my original) had ABO2.5 in yellow
writing. As far as I can find out, the difference was the later ones self
reset after a low-voltage fault, rather than using the wire in the plug
    trick.
..,..and the answer to your question? Mine works ok.
