I HAVE GOOGLED THE GROUP and seen reference to silk inner gloves that
may help to alleviate the farking cold finger syndrome that I
experience on the way to work. I don't think that there's such a thing
as winter gloves that actually work, and I don't want to install heated
grips, so the inners seem like a good idea.

I HAVE LOOKED AT ALL THE ONLINE BIKE ACCESSORIES sites that I know of,
but can't seem to find them.

Short of hitting Elizabeth Street, does anyone know where I can get a
    pair?

Not yet, although I'm thinking that a snow ski store will be a better
    bet.

Take a look at the synthetic golding gloves as an inner.

I found some at the first motorbike store I walked into when looking for
    them.

Not too sure which city you're in, but if you can't find any where you
are, Robbo's Motorcycles in Canberra *may* be able to deliver some to
you. Give them a call on 1800 626216 and ask for Sam. Tell him Alex
    sent you.

When you get yourself a set, the best way to use them is to warm them up
before putting your gloves on. I always warm mine up on top of the fire
place for 5 mins, and my fingers are toasty for the 30 minute trip into
work. This is in Canberra temperatures... -5oC yesterday morning.

There's a pair in my dresser drawer. I got them about 25 years ago. Try that
thermal wear place whose name I can't currently recall.
I just did a search on _thermal wear silk gloves_ got 623 hits on OZ sites.
Starting with Paddy Palin. Google is your friend.

  7. I have known others to use kitchen rubber gloves as an inner
also you could try latex gloves
cotton gloves we used to use for haycarting would be good $2.00 shop stuff

Of course Paddy Palin will return a hit on some combination of those
four words. It's a pity that they don't actually sell Silk gloves (as
is the case with the other 2 dozen potential hits that I followed).

    Thanks anyway.

I'm going to get some cheap cotton ones from the supermarket as a test.
My wife reckons you can get them almost anywhere. Latex and rubber
would undoubetly work, but the lack of breathing (sweat) would be a
real issue IMO. Tanks for the advice. With a name like Frost, I'm sure
you know what you're on about. LOL!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "synthetic golding glove" ?

I suspect similar to a "synthetic golfing glove". The "d" key is just too
damn close to the "f" key.

No, I've got fat fingers too. My pet hates are calculators and phones where
my finger covers at least three keys at a time. And cookie jars where I can
get my hand in and grab a cookie but then can't get my hand out with the
    cookie. Monkey traps!

Cmping store will sell you thin thermal gloves that do a damn good job.
    Called Thinsulite or something.

Well, my missus just called to tell me that she picked up up some
cotton ones for $3. I'll give 'em a try out tomorrow morning, and
    report my findings.

    Also, at a store called Snow Gum, she had 2 options offered to her;
100% polyster ones for $20 (http://www.kaossnow.com), or some merino
    wool ones for $25 (http://www.icebreaker.com).

If the cotton ones are not a success, I'll try the woollen ones.
