  3. I have to say it looks very smart for such an old machine.
He timed his winning bid rather well.
I've just read the E Bay description - classic Murray prose I see.

    Excellent result!

This one always pisses me off

"what kind of money do you require for this bike?"

It seems they struggle to understand the concept of an auction.

True but it's handy to have an idea of a reserve price before
travelling a long distance to view.

    Well done TOG and TYG.

I really do wish my lad had not dismantled the TS50, I am sure he could
have got at least £400 for it as a runner, with MOT and Tax.

Unfortunately, it's languishing at the side of the shed minus tank,
seat and engine, apparently he's "doing it up".

Must be by fucking telekinesis, as he never goes anywhere near it.

There was no reserve and there's never a reserve on mine so, basically,
highest bid gets it which makes the question kind of pointless.

Best roll your sleeves up then ;-)
I'd be tempted to flog it as it is and keep the cash.

He'll only grizzle for a day.

  10. So what makes "£350 starting price and no reserve" so hard to
    understand???

  11. Buy another project one on ebay, cannibalise the two, get one decent
runner and a pile of bits which you can also flog on Ebay, and job done.

Problem is, as you've just superbly demonstrated, shite old geared
mopeds are not cheap, so even if I got another one for, say £350 (what
I paid for the TS50), it'd not be worth my while

  19. *Decent* shite old geared mopeds are not cheap. Manky ones are.

There was another DT50MX on Ebay last week. Red and black one, with a
DT80MX engine fitted. Long MoT too, but the auction description was
abysmal and the photos appalling. It struggled up to £280 and failed to
    make reserve.

Wish I'd bought it now - I could have doubled my money on it, I reckon.

With Ebay, a huge amount hangs on the photos and the auction
description. Get those right, and you get decent money.

Not necessarily. I've manually posted bids with 10-15 secs to go.
