    Until they no longer work

Automotive batteries usually good for 2 to 3 years but have seen ones that
lasted 5. Depends on type of battery.

Sorry, mate, they don't make 'em any more.
Longer than tyres, shorter than Taragos.

Still on the battery I bought with the Trumpy in 2000.

5 years and going strong. Bought a conditioner last year due to infrequent
riding. On average over 5 years ride less than 5 days per month.

Bike has always started 1st prod. A few times with no riding for 3-4
    weeks...still enough.

It's a sealed zero maintenance type.

  13. I just got 5 years out of my one. Cost farkin' near 200 bucks but. Then
again it's been shorted by a spanner half melting the terminal off, shook
rattled and nearly rolled for over a hundred thousand k's, welded with and
sucked dry by the electric reverse. Hasn't been the same since having the
alternator wires shorted after the ill fated Great Ocean Road run after the
Supers. Still holds a charge but only for three or four days and refuses to
be jump started by the Chev for some reason.

Never even knew where the battery was located until today. You have to
remove the bloody petrol tank and half the farking bike to get at the
    battery.

When you have 10 thumbs removing a single screw is a bloody nightmare so me
changing the battery is a big NO NO NO.

As I am travelling around Oz ( hey have I told you all that more then a
million times ? ) I will get a new battery and ask them to come and put the
fucker in and hopefully they wont charge an arm and a leg.

  18. One day Will S got dressed and committed to text
Hmm. it could get lonely in some spots on your ride around the continent. It
would be good to be able to do a few things on your 'mount'. Surely changing
a battery is not rocket science ??

Battery on the r1100s was put in brand new in november 2001.
Still starts first time even if not ridden for up to 3 weeks.
Got no idea what battery it is as I can't be stuffed taking the bike
apart and raising the tank to look at it.
