Bloody bike shops and websites. Grr.

So, the bike chucks off its chain on Saturday afternoon and on
inspection there's some damage to the links where the monkey had fitted
the soft-link; allegedly less than 1000 miles ago. Christ... even *I*
can fit a chain without damaging it.

So... call around Bristol on Sunday morning; no shops are open who stock
    chains.

Try to order one online and *two* shops have problems with their
    web-payment systems.

I think there's a message for me somewhere.

It's currently taking every ounce of sense in my body not to discern
that the message is "just get a fucking link and re-use the old chain".

You did check the monkey's work over afterwards didn't you.

I watched the blokes change my chain and sprockets, to which I said,
'err, you, are going to use thread lock on those nuts aren't you' to
whit he replied, 'nah, haven't got any'. So I produced some from my
pocket that i'd bought & brought along, just in case. Twat.
Which begs another question .. why didn't you !

I bought the bike recently, one of the things that was stated was "new
    chain and sprockets recently fitted".

I checked over a number of things but must admit I didn't do more than
cast a quick glance over the chain; make sure it was lubricated and that
the rear wheel was in-line. I didn't think the check it had been fitted
    correctly.
    See above.

Except you already know better. You don't **** about with chains.
    Period. [1]

[1] Then again, sensible people don't ride past dogs with a leg in
    plaster [2].

[2] Unless the plaster's on the dog, obviously.

It goes around and around very fast, and can ruin your day if it flies
    off ;-)

Infact, I only got him to threadlock the front sprocket bolt, rather
    than the rear sprocket nuts.

    Cheers

    1) I couldn't be arsed
    2) I was having the tyre changed anyway
3a) I didn't have a softlink riveter (and they did)
3b) I didn't want to do the ball pein trick on the Blackbird.

I'd pretty much insist on the front sprocket being done, after the SV
managed to loosen it's front sprocket, despite it being threadlocked,
the washer being bent over to the faces of the nut and the nut being
done up to the recommended torque which was 105ft-lbs.

When it loosened, it promptly let the engine oil leak out and coat the
back tyre. That was plenty interesting.

Suzukis use the gearbox sprocket as a sump plug? How odd.
