Oh well, I guess I'll have to wit for another day to do a sub 70 second
run up Loton Park again before I hang my boots up/

My first run of 70.80 boded well, but I was still under geared. Hitting
the stroker wall about 2/3rds up Cedar straight. The front brake was a
bit odd with the YZ85 master cylinder. Not braking hard enough, not
braking hard enough, not braking hard enough, oh shit the front wheel
has suddenly locked stylee. The very long travel front forks don't help
    - must click the damping round in the 'H' position as far as they will
go. The bastard brake was also binding like buggery again after the
    first run.

Physically impossible to get a smaller than 42t rear sprocket given the
mounting bolt centres, and a quick check revealed that the 15t front
sprocket wouldn't go on until the swinging arm chain protector thing has
been relieved. Not time to do that between runs even at Loton.

Best time in the end was 70.54. Part of the problem is that after 30
years I know the hill so well that massive improvements aren't possible.
At least a clapped out 250 ridden by an old gimmer was getting up as
quick as some of the saloon cars driven by youngsters (a whimsically
badged 'chavectra' was taking on a Ford Asbo, a ScoobyDo, a selection of
    Pug 1/306s a couple of RS2000s and a Porker.

    V. annoying because I can usually reckon on taking at least 2 or 3
seconds off between practice and second timed run. Though TBF that still
wouldn't get me down to the 67.87 done a sun 40BHP Morini 350 on Dunlop
'Triangulars' (albeit on a very hot day 29 7ears ago).

Oh well, Margam Park nest Sunday and a new venue = guaranteed personal
    best.

Plus the internal application of ethanol. Though now I come to think of
it, most meetings this year will yield at least a Personal Best at This
Hill on This Bike result. There is method in my Nigeist hill climb
machine changing strategy. I have the 50 second barrier to aim for at
Wiscombe in May, which will be a pretty tall order seeing as I have only
ever managed it on 750 or 1300 class machines before.
