Just got round to opening the post and NTL are upping my broadband speed
from 750K to 2Mb as of May.

    No extra charge...

Here sonny, have a higher speed link for free (It'll make up for the monthly
data transfer limit we'll introduce soon after)

Mined Ewe NTL have had a 1gig a day limit for ages haven't they? Wonder if
    it'll change.

They'll charge in blood & sweat as usual. The network will fall apart
like it always does when they change something.

They managed to lose over 1000 emails from my mailbox last week, after
I hadn't been able to connect to it for over a week to download them.
Needless to say they don't back-up the mail servers & couldn't give a
    stuff.

sweller emerged from their own little world to say
I just went to their webshite & manually did it myself. We're only here for
another 2 months so hopefully not too many people will upgrade in that
    time.

Zen seem to be giving no indication of up'ing either the speed or lowering
    the price :-(

Nildram 2.5Mb, 30Gb cap except for unlimited "fair use" downloads
00:00 to 0:800 for a pahnd a month less than BT (who also upped to 2Mb
from 512kb FOC) works for me ;-)

The apparently free upgrade to 2Mb will be across the board shortly
    though, won't it?

Nor imposing any caps on how much you can download.

I see that as an honest business model.

Not entirely. It depends who you're with and what the terms are.
Pipex are going to be upgrading me from 512K to 1Mb, but I've no cap
whatsoever. If you go for the capped services then most of them will
be 2Mb. Force9 have been doing 2Mb for 16 quid a month, but I think it
has a slightly restrictive monthly cap on it if you do more than a few
    large downloads.

I think you have to exceed it on three consecutive days before they
GAF, & all they do then is send you a warning email.

If only speed enforcement was managed like this.

I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry if NTL took over speed
    enforcement.

    Bastards the lot of them.

They pulled my account over a 2 minute video downloaded by 10 people.
Hardly consistent with the much advertised, by all the cunts, keeping
friends and family in touch is it?

I pay the extra pound and have a 2G cap which would cost me another
pound to exceed. Despite using the net freely since going broadband I
have not even gone over the 1G mark yet. Ordinary capping is not an
    issue imho.

Web space download caps is a different fucking matter entirely though,
    for all the ISP's.

    Force9.

I knew they had a cap, they all do but I was surprised how low it was.

In November Firstborn gets a new owner and she is doing it in Jamaica,
which is going to restrict the number of rellies attending.

I was intending to take me camera and vid the relevant bits and bung it
up for the family to see. FFS I ain't got a big Spik sized family, mine
and the in laws are all god fearing condom using prossies but there are
still plenty of Aunties who will want to see it.

Given the present deal I can expect to get from any of the mainstream
ISP's, if I put it up then I will be having account pulled every bloody
day for a fortnight or more. And it is not fucking right.
