Who'd have thought one tiny little bit of metal could make so much
    difference.

Still took it to full throttle in every gear on the way back mind. Oh
and feet up all the way back as well even on the tricky crossroads bit
just before the pub near mine <g> Bikes do verily pleaseth me muchly.

However it looks as though I will have to get a UK spec headlight in
it as the current one goes straight across without the 'tick' that
deflects. Unless anyone knows a friendly MOT tester?

Excellent but do always remember that it is not compulsory, merely
advisory. Don't go getting yourself into trouble over it.

If only all wimmin were as easily pleased.

I did post a fix for that when you said about it last time.

Use a bit of duck tape, like on my headlight for my Bandit and FZR.

    I was listening.
The MOT man he say No. I told him you'd done it and everything...

I do. Matt doesn't. He'll be using it until his is finished. But I
Apparently lights are the new thing. Lovely chap, I rang up Derny
Pidcocks to see if they could work out what the bloke in Clay Cross
was blathering on about. They said drop it down to their MOT place in
Long Eaton. He retested it, didn't charge me and went through various
    bits and pieces with me.
If I can source one I may as well get it sorted.

As long as the tape is well stuck on he has to allow it. Go elsewhere if
he refuses it. A pain havin to pay again but cheaper than a uk spec
    reflector.

Not 100% sure of the regs there, but here in Schweiz headlight beams
have to go up in the right place, as well as not going up in the wrong
place, IYSWIM. Cost me 400 quid to get the Volvo's changed over...

It doesn't have to have the little uplift at the left. All Honda V4s
from the mid to late 90s had a flat beam headlight, as does my 9R and
many other bikes. Your MOT tester is a wanker.

    I take it that you _don't_ mean Bra-less ;o)

I happen to 'ave , lurking in my garage [1] like, a LH dip 7 inch headlight
reflector, with (IIRC) a pilot light aperture.
It's brand new (Kyoto?? <sp> ) of my Dragqueen when I replaced it for a
    Cibie.

Anybody fancy giving it a new home?

If it fits and negotiations on suitable recompense are a success I
will sir. Oi Loz - will it fit?

I'm going to call my pet MOT man and ask him what he reckons. Did it
    fail on anything else?

You've butchered Nina's post. The MOT tester question was about the
headlight, not restriction. As far as I now, engines are not even
    started for an MOT test.

Really? I thought they always did a road test.

I'm sorry, it won't fit. You'll need a genuine headlamp. Have you seen
the price of UK spec h/lamps though? One for my Thunderace would have
been over 200 quid. I couldn't find a used one for less than 60 quid for
my GPZ500. I should think finding a UK spec ZXR400L one in good used
    condition will be near impossible.

If the beam pattern is ok, surely he can't fail it. This MOT tester
bloke sounds like a right one. How did the bike get an MOT last year
with that head light? I asked my MOT guy this, and he just answered
    "That was last year.".

I think it's bullshit too.. section 1.6 of the testers manual should
cover it with "A flat top dip beam pattern is not a reason for
    rejection"

Maybe they're allowed to push it. Would makes sense for Guzzis - normal
    road use and all that.
