Blimey. Didn't expect to win that for so little money

  1. Good grief - why? You've got a perfectly good 400/4 to go on.

    He's not USAnian, is he?

IIRC it was Winston Churchill who said: "You can always trust an
American to do the right thing - after he's tried all the alternatives."

Umm dunno. His garage contents is almost Nigesque in its turnaround but
I think not. He'll be along shortly, no doubt.

IIRC the 400/4 is The Doctor's. Not that he hasn't bought any other
400/4s to rob bits off them to improve this one.

  7. What he said. I use it, abuse it and fettle it, but it's hers.

  8. Thanks.

    Er, I think.

Can't see what's wrong with The Plan, mind. An XBR500 is faster and
easier on fuel than a 400 Four.

I expect to test that out over the May holiday weekend. Preferably not
    the fuel bit, though.

  10. Collected it today. It's in remarkably good nick. The paint's very good
on the bodywork - some rusty bits on the frame, but that's easy to touch
    in.

Some corrosion on the engine cases because of the seaside salt. Some
corrosion on some basic fasteners, ditto. The headers are very rusty but
    the silencers are A-OK.

Engine is great. Runs a treat. Rear shox are totally dead: the back end
just pogos. Brake OK. Misrouted throttle cable so the tickover speeds up
with the bars on full right lock.

Good tyres and chain. Tax and ticket until June/July.

I'm quite chuffed. More chuffed than I am with that sodding MZ, anyway.
