Can anyone tell me if you're bleeding front brakes on a twin disk bike
(FJ1200) do you bleed them separately, or do you need to do them both at
the same time (and if that's the case how the hell do you do it with one
    pair of hands)?

seperately - but do them within the same service

Start with the left caliper as it usually has a longer line.
    finish with the right caliper

pump - pump - pump - release etc etc
Till you ave the desired feeling ( take this anyway you wish! )

I normally do one at a time . the one closest to the master cylinder
    first in this case

    Hey Dave

Just do one at a time and there is no probs. Use a syringe and a bit of tube
to suck the old shite fluid out of the resevoir before you start as well,
then fill up with fresh. Saves you atleast pumping the resevoir full of old
    stuff too.

  5. Bleed separately.

Not sure how far the brake lever is from the calipers, on the FJ, but I
have had no trouble (apart from a dicky master cylinder) bleeding the
front brakes on either the Red Baron or Suzie.

Rules for all bleeding brakes is to do the one with the longest line
from the master cylinder first and work towards the master cylinder.
Same as in cars. An auto-bleeder is a damn good investment for about
$15. Had mine at least 20 years.

:) OK. I'll give you that one. Motorcycle brakes can be a pain to
bleed because of the vertical brake-line runs. I bleed mine from the
bottom, by injecting brake fluid into the bleed nipple from the
calliper end using a large syringe (Helen's a phlebotomist), and start
(of course) from the furthest point.
