    Umm advice please!! what is the feature set to look for etc.
    I think 32 is big enough for the room and the seating is going to be no
    more than 9 feet back.

    Oh yes.

    I can buy from AFEES, but curiously, they're not any cheaper than UK
    high street (unless you want a Harley).
    Christ. The LG 30" is the same price as I paid for a 32" Sony
    Triniton a couple of years ago.

    When a large TV is switched off, it dominates the room with it's
    black/grey/silver plastic ugliness. In a classical sitting room like
    mine, with oil paintings and quality antiques, the TV is hideous. As
    soon as I get back, I'm going to get an LCD, and have a cabinet made
    to conceal the DVD player, Sky box, etc.

    Yes yes yes. But the subject in question is a little TV projector box
    about seven inches across.

    you want HDTV compliance, which basically means:

    * a decent native resolution (1366 x 768 for a 32" widescreen ideally)

    * HDCP (high definition content protection - basically without this
    your TV will be physically incapable of displaying encrypted premium
    content, but Simon will know the full SP)

    Also,

    * decent response time (<20ms)

    * decent contast ratio i.e. 500:1

    * plenty of inputs, DVI, s-video, component video if you can get it
    (and have a DVD player that supports it).

    * decent viewing angle - at least 160 degrees

    * twin tuners

    Personally, I'd prefer built in speakers, but they aren't strictly
    necessary.

    Here's one I'm considering:

    A mate who lives in San Francisco has a 60" Rear-Projection TV. It is
    massive, but he lives in a superbly stylish loft apartment.

    Perhaps not quite what you are after but it has the advantage we could shove
    it up your arse to show our gratitude for your TV related posts.

    I'm just imaging the bath setting out exactly what it expects from the
    room and the consequences should this not happen in a timely fashion.

    Frankly, I'm very disappointed.
