    Hi,

I always run premium unleaded fuel in the bike and was surprised today
to hear the engine pinging when I opened the throttle. The bike always
gets filled with Mobil premium unleaded (not the super expensive stuff,
the next one down). That stuff is rated at 96 octane, which is 5 points
better than what the manual recommends.

It was kinda warm today - would that make the engine start pinging ???

It happened while climbing the gladesville bridge in 4th at 70k`s or so...

Mate, I climbed Gadesville bridge today on the XX too. No pinging but damn
my bird is riding hot at the moment. Anything other than cruising above 70
and the temp will hit 98+. Stop for a few seconds and 105+ will appear.
Chose a great day not to wear boots - almost burned my ankles.

    Chicken legs anyone?

    Cheers,

The Guzzi was definitely warm today - waves of heat off the engine. I
    think summer is i'cumen in.

My Blackbird hit 123° stuck on Cumberland Hwy, but that was in the
middle of summer. Re: the pinging... are you sure it's pinging. The
camchain on my 2nd XX used to rattle from about 6000RPM.. and initially
I thought that was a pinging noise.

You could try the Nev cure. Crash it and get a Kwaka.

It surely is. The yzf has been running 10-20 degrees hotter
    this week.
