Mornin' all. Apologies for dropping in unannounced after all this time.

Worst thing I ever did, getting Broadband.

I dumped the old 'puter with dial-up turnpike and started browsing with
a vengeance (mostly to get my money's worth). The short dips into ebay
became marathon browse-fests, entering every possible variation on bike
model numbers to ensure nothing escaped: And therin lay the problem -
Rather than a lesurely plod through a few dozen USENET postings, I was
spending hours systematically scouring the globe for those elusive NOS
parts (with the $ to £ exchange rate what it is, it's cheaper getting
stuff from Wyoming than Worcestershire, but I digress).

I _have_ got a cellar full of pristine parts I'd have given my left
gonad (the uncrushed one) to have had when I was rebuilding my bike the
first time around, and it's a liberating experience knowing I can cane
the bugger daily through London, safe in the knowledge there's a full
inventory of parts at home, but (bugger me) it's a sad hobby. I've even
started to build a new one (a z500 ferchrissake, it's not like it would
be worth five grand like a z900) out of the NOS bits.

So forgive me for posting my dribble here again after three years in the
wilderness, but I've got to do something other than aquire and hoard old
kwak parts for a hobby. I've been reading uk.r.m.c infrequently but
I've only recently got a newsreader I'm happy with (Thunderbirds' still
not a patch on the old 16-bit turnpike though), so apologies if I
top-post any binaries whilst I'm getting used to it.

I'd better go and check my bids now (BAD no.spam! Put down the mouse!)
Thanks fer yer time & understanding.

(Do spammers still harvest newsgroups for addresses, or am I stuck in
the 20th Century? It all seems to be Phishing emails nowadays.)

  2. Indeed. My pristine new front guard for the CB750 originated in the US.

Always amazes me tho how some people buy stuff on ebay at a higher cost than
they can get elsewhere with a quick Google. I saw a couple of GT250 side
panel badges go for more than I can buy em!!
