Christ no, KSBITB haddock is ok if you're desperate, but you wouldn't
take it round to meet your mates.

Well, if you have a face between your legs, you may be right.

    <thinks>

    What are you complaining about?
Troo, troo. But you *do* have to think about you too, IYSWIM.

    Good luck with it.

Ta muchly. The trend has been mostly downward for a few years, but so long
as it doesn't steepen, things can be held together for as long as they need
    to be.

I wouldn't really recommend taking any sort of haddock round to meet
    Killer Shark.

Quite so. You'd be better taking it to Kilmarnock.

Hold on to what is good,
even if it's a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe,
Even if it's a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,
Even if it's a long way from here.
    Hold on to your life,
Even if it's easier to let go.
    Hold on to my hand,
Even if I've gone away from you.

What the man says. You'll do a better job about thinking about the
other important ones if you're happier - trust me on this.
What the man says. They sprogs are bright enough to analyse the pros
and cons. And in the end they can't be completely protected from the
fact life throws up difficult decisions.

I like the bit in Poul Anderson's /Star Fox/ about commanding yourself as
you would a ship, fairly but with discipline, and thus come safely to port
(IIRC - the book is in a room currently filled with snoring). It
approximates to what I'm trying to do.
