  3. With keyword spamming that bad, it'd serve him right if the auction got
    pulled.

Indeed. I hate that type listing. Although I've seen some XS650 'specials'
which could legitimately use most of the above keywords as they were such an
abortion of mixed parts from many bikes.

If it's a TX750 (can't see as the auction's been pulled) then notalot.
One of Yamaha's most disastrous models. Even worse than the early
    XS750 triple.

Basically, Yamaha's take on the Z750 parallel twin. Balancer shafts
and all. Not very powerful, not very fast, and if you tried riding it
hard for a long time the balancer shaft chain thrashed the oil into
    froth, and the engine disintegrated.

Yamaha found a cure - add more oil to the sump - but by then nobody
really wanted it anyway. Never sold in the UK (lucky escape).

It's actually quite a nice bike and had a lot of cycle parts in common
with the XS650 (brakes, guards, lights, etc). There are a few around,
but they're a curio more than something desirable: a nit like a Suzuki
    RE5.

It was. And it was up to 2750 when I looked this morning.
Supposedly it's had mods like an oil cooler and stuff done. At least
    that's what the ad said.

It was indeed a real European TX750. I much prefer the Don Vesco flat
tracker version. I built a lookalike of this based on an 1150cc Halco lump
back in 1989. *Not* a good commuting machine as I should have realised. Yet
another bike I'll forever regret selling.
Agreed, but we did get the XS500 which was worse in other ways. The XS650
was a far, far better engine design.
Mods which probably detract from its value to many anorak collectors.

funnily enough, even before the auction was pulled, the obviously ****-
n-pasted text said something along the lines of "the TX750 failed".

I bought an XS500 a few years ago, as part of my crusade to own every
crap Jap twin ever made (and I'm *still* looking for a decent cheap
Z750). It handled OK, and the engine design was incredibly advanced.
When I popped off the cam cover I was astonished: it was like an early
    Gixxer head).

But it, er, it just didn't go very well. Sweet, smooth, handled well,
but not particularly fast. And rather dull. The early ones had a load
of woes: the later ones, like mine, were supposedly much better but
they wrecked the styling and they dropped the twin front disc/drum
rear brakes in favour of a single disc at each end, which was lunacy.

I can't imagine why anyone would bid £2750 for a TX750, however good.
They just aren't wanted. For that sort of cash, you could get one of
the best XS650s on the planet which (as you say) is a far, far better
bike than the 750 or the 500.
