    hi all,

just got back to melb from birdsville on my XT600. i might take a tent and
    sleeping bag next time.

The pub was a very welcomed sight.

the roads up there are in very good shape.

The birdsville track is smooth and not very sandy, 100km/h most of the way
    from Marree.

Visited 'Big Red' sand dune. The QAA line is very stony, slow going
(40km/h). I didn't try going over big red. Wrong tyres for it. walking up it
was hard enough. I feel i might have cooked my engine in the deep sand.

Going east from Birsdville, the Birdsville development Rd. has got to be the
best dirt road in the nation. Hard packed smooth clay, no sand. Those banana
benders really know how to operate a grader.

The cordillo downs road is very rough stoney gibbers. Just in case you're
getting bored with that, there's 50km of fair dinkum bull-dust, up to the
    axles type sand.

Innamincka to tibooburra, via merty merty are fairly sandy, but fast good
    roads.

The country-side up there is gorgeous, and so are some of the country babes.
