Yet you felt driven to post about how arsed you can't be.

Err no. You change subject faster than an MP being interviewed by
Paxman. Your original (which you snipped) was in relation to whether
50,000 motorists were considered under suspicion of criminal acts. So do
pay attention at the back there.
I am sure this kind of protest was voiced when finger-printing was first
introduced. However I expect a portion of the general public would say
something along the lines of, "I have a clean conscience, so I am not
bothered and if excluding me from a pattern of enquiry narrows down the
culprit then so much the better". While you have every right to cry foul
at the same time you may be creating a shield for a criminal to hide
    behind.
They do not need computers to "grill" an innocent party. I was
interviewed at length and my parents house searched all because someone
had committed an offence and copied my number plate to an identical
vehicle. Considering the event you describe I would hope that you would
have been a willing witness and helped the police investigate a murder.
However you sound as though you put your inconvenience at greater worth
than the life of a child.
No I will not take another attempt at diversion by your introduction of
a new argument. Stick to your original point or phone Mel Gibson should
he decide to make a follow-up to "Conspiracy Theory". Technology does
not enslave people, it's people who enslave people.
You were (had you not snipped your own posting) going on about automated
checking methods, particularly that the authorities would introduce such
measures "Only in the interests of preventing crime / road deaths /
terrorism / illegal immigration (delete as appropriate), of course". Of
which I wanted your opinion of whether this is a normal function of
government. However you decided to change track to an attack on Mr
    Blunkett (I typo'd "P" instead of "B").

What utter and total bollocks. You really should make sure of your facts
first. Mind you if you did then it'd drastically cut your posting rate.

There are a row of cameras (facing towards the flow of traffic) in the
overhead gantry if you travel north from Frankfurt heading towards Koln.
I know because the BMW infront of me went from 180KPH to 110KPH with no
warning and it was almost a "touching cloth" moment.

Not 'driven', no. You do rather seem to jump to extreme
conclusions from flimsy/non-existent evidence. I felt it
to be non-productive to continue any further discourse on
the matter, given the rash and illogical conclusions you
were jumping to in the paragraph I quoted.

It's not worth the effort though. Whatever anyone posts in reply will
never make him stop believing he's right and everyone knows it.

For the last three years, or thereabouts, the local Birmingham police
who happen to use the same cafe as myself most mornings, have all been
wearing bullet / stab proof vests . . . and have all been carrying
guns. Must admit, it did make us all a little nervous when we first saw
'em, but you tend to notice if a policeman doesn't have one now, even to
the point of asking him what he's done to piss the gaffer off. ;-)
There are parts of town that I wouldn't chose to go, but you can say
    that for most large cities.

Our branch manager had the right idea. He had his nice company Lexus
taken off him at gunpoint, so he pushed head office to re-locate out of
the city centre. He no longer has to risk getting shot - but still
expects all the guys out there working to attend jobs in some of the
    more 'challenging' areas of town.
I no longer work for this company :)

Yes, I think If I had to be in the same room as you and cutlery, I'd
want a stab-proof vest too. Perfectly understandable...

AndrewR emerged from their own little world to say
Xerox built them in their Welwyn factory up until 1990. This factory
relocated to Forest of Dean, where I worked, and we were still using them
as test mules until about 2000. Incredibly reliable compared to modern PCs.

Do you mean in the city? I'm familiar with every inch of the
A3/E35 autobahn and can assure you there are no speed cameras
there. As I recall there's no speed limit either. There's a
camera on the B8 which runs parallel.

No I mean somewhere between the two cities. Anyway another person has

You mean similar to your own unsubstantiated accusation that I
have posted racist material here based on nothing more than
unfounded comments you had read from others. I've never been
unpleasant to you LN. Is your hostility simply because I'm not
    part of the fold?
"Rational debate" is generally the usual suspects queuing up to
append such comments as "you talk bollocks".
