I'm not sure what you mean by tolerate or counterfeit.
When someone writes something that I disagree with, I
tend to point it out to 'em. I don't just tolerate it.
And as for counterfeit, I'm not sure what you're getting
at. As far as I know, Tim is who he says he is. He's
definitely into bikes, and definitely he does a lot of
    riding.
As for politics, Tim seems to have been duped and/or
brainwashed by the ruling elite and their corporate
owned and censored right wing media. If I'm not mistaken,
Tim actually believes that bu$h's illegal and immoral
terror attack on Iraq had nothing to do with oil. Anyone
who has looked into it has seem the evidence that oil was
beyond any doubt the key motivating factor. But that's not
counterfeit - that's an example of what happens when people
don't do enough independent reading or research and believe
what their government tells them to believe.

Can you be more specific? I'm not sure what lie you're
    talking about.

I don't see phony. I see some folks that should probably
spend more time on things that matter and less on newsgroup
gossip, but I don't see too much phony.
    How'd I do?

As I stated, there are many other SMRO that one could join to support. Or
none at all and still support. Support might simply sending a letter to your
representative querying him on his stance of motorcycle related issues, and
urging his representation on your viewpoint.

However "support" does require *some* involvement in the political process.
I would urge everyone to get involved at some level. Go to www.mrf.org and
check the issues yourself and see which issues you'd gladly support. And
    most importantly, *GO VOTE*.

On my newsreader your comment was one single line that seemed to
extend to infinity. I suspect it had something to do with the way you
posted or copied it. Chasing your quote was a PITA. You might check
that out. Ask Bjay for help if it is beyond your skills.

Regardless of your qualification there are too many issues of
importance to be personally dealt with on a given day. I choose which
causes I can be most effective at influencing change, but that does
not restrict me from commenting on others.

Case in point, just recently I was invited to join a national
roundtable on Universal Accessibility and Barrier Free Design. It is a
cause I have some knowledge of and this opportunity provided me an
avenue to influence national policy. Over the next few years it will
take considerable time and money to attend all the meetings and
prepare the reports, but at the end of the day we will see significant
change. Now if I choose to expend the time and effort here should that
commitment restrict my ability to comment or enjoy the benefits of
other rights? Of course not. Only a fool would call me a Welfare
whatever for not supporting their cause.

Let's say you give all of your disposable income and volunteer time to
cancer research and then get struck down with heart disease. The
extension of your position would be you are a welfare case since you
never supported advances in the treatment of heart disease.

It's a stupid premise not worthy of intelligent debate. Which I
suppose ranks it right up there with other hot Reeky topics.

I get to vote this year in state elections, I will be a first time
    voter.

I do what I can for the local SMROs, I spent a few hours volunteering
last night and we helped to raise a lot of money for another cause and
we got the groups some FREE exposure to the public via radio.

To brand all non members ( including out of staters) a 'welfare rider'
is a insult to all those who do give back through rider training or
    involvement in another smro.

I doubt this is a position officially taken by the group Bill says he
    is involved in.

It goes without saying we need more biker friendly lawmakers voted in
everywhere and whatever people can do to help make this happen is worth
    doing.

I think that makes a huge difference. If there's one thing I regret in my
riding background, it is the lack of dirt riding experience.
Yeah, I've lowsided on the track, but mostly early in my career. Once you've
got a couple of hundred laps under your belt, you finally get a feel for the
back end going away, and can ususally catch it with throttle and/or a knee.
Yes, but the pros are riding bikes that are much less tolerant of throttle
adjustments. It's why I never wanted to ride a GP 250 bike, because the off
throttle/on throttle transition is SO very unforgiving.
I guess I should be a bit more circumspect. I've only done ROLLING stoppies on
the track, on my racebike, and then I was NOT doing them intentionally! I meant
I can do a stoppie at the *END* of a stop. I can bring the back end up on the
SPeed Triple as high as I want, but not while riding at speed. That's
    DEFINITELY beyond my skill level.
Yep. Kinf of like trying to operate the throttle with my left hand while
adjusting the glove on my right hand with my teeth. I started to do it, and it
felt so scary, that I pulled over and stopped, and adjusted the glove properly.

And I'll try to be a little less gullible when I read those memos from my
    puppetmasters^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h bosses in the future!

Only a fucking idiot like you would interpret questioning your father's stupid
    bullshit motivations as "backing out."

Hell, I've probably taught people who were WORSE "riders" than your father how
to ride (although that is doubtful), so I'm sure he'll do just fine.

Don't be afraid for your daddy, Brian.

  15. His math is screwed up, so his answer is off by two decimal places.

$50 in 1967 dollars is equivalent to about $239.82 today, not $23,982.
To increase a number by 479.64 percent, you multiply it by 4.7964, not
    479.64.
