Me too. Now *that*, I really wonder about.

Probably won't be able to sleep tonight....

    ....wondering about it.

Now it is...but there is no law in texas about theft over $50.00 now.
The times they change. Back then it was a felony,

Now it would be too. The rate of inflation between now and then was
    479.64% (as of jan 2005)
    http://inflationdata.com/Inflation/Inflation_Rate/InflationCalculator.asp

    What's >$50.00 X 479.64 = $23,982+ whatever the over $50.00 was *
    479.64. A felony now too.

  5. And I don't think I've been insulting in this thread. It's true that
I "don't have a dog in this fight", as the saying goes, but I do have
some legal experience and training. Some of Brian's opinions on
copyright law and libel guidelines are shaky at best. My first post
on the topic was in response to a direct question that Brian asked.

I try not to "pick sides" in Usenet groups. For instance, you might
have noticed that I've stayed out of the whole "$50 larceny/5-yr jail
term" fiasco. I really don't give a damn one way or the other whether
that was you or not. Even if it was, the theft happened before I was
born, and without more details, it's all just wind and noise.

Sounds like a decent judge found a loophole. Some federal laws are
pretty strange in that the crime is illegal under federal law but the
state usually prosecutes the case. I think it depends on state law and
    the feds waiving jurisdiction.

What you are referring to is a deferred sentence. Usually, in a
deferred sentence, upon completing probation or a short sentence and
parole, the records are sealed. This is different than a pardon; a
pardon restores lost rights (most of them) but a deferred sentence
treats the conviction as if it never happened.

As I stated earlier, I have not bothered to read it.

Sentencing guidelines and categories of crimes vary from state to state, and
change over time at both the state and Federal level. There is also tends
to be considerable judicial discretion in sentencing, as shown in the recent
case where a man convicted of 5 bank robberies received only a 46 month
    sentence.

My point was that you showed very specific knowledge.

More obfuscation rather than facts from you. You do realize that such
behavior makes things worse not better?

I don't think so. Even a torment rabid animal in its death throes would
stay away from the Walkers for fear of getting whatever sicknesses they
    have.

As others here have stated, you Walkers do not know how to pour piss from a
boot, so it is incumbent upon the rest of us to help out the less fortunate
like yourselves grow in their knowledge and education of the real world.
Not just in this area but others. As I understand it Tim is even going to
stop by on his next ride West and show the old fool proper braking and
handling techniques so he can avoid "throwing it down" the next time a minor
    obstacle appears in his path.

When something could so easily be disproved and yet you refuse too, it gives
credence to your critics. Most people don't give a rats ass about a petty
conviction from so long ago. But the way you clowns are handling it speaks
volumes about who and what you both are. Add to that the fanciful claims of
legal action, people losing accounts over posts, and investigation and no
one could ever take you seriously again.

Tim was right when he described your old man as "mad old coot; crazy as a
bedbug" and you are not looking a whole lot better. Be a good boy and get
him the treatment and support services he needs. He really is an
    embarrassment to the community.

That's true to a point. There are other motorcycle rights groups besides
    TMRA.
There's ABATE in most states, AMA, the Sons of Liberty Riders, and MRF
(Motorcycle Riders Foundation), and a host of others.

You will find that most of these groups work together for the same aims at
    times.

There are a number of motorcycle rights issues that need to be addressed at
the local, state, and federal issue.

I am sure that any rights groups would appreciate any involvement you care
    to give.

Nah... He's going to "ride circles around me and give me some riding
lessons"... I appreciated that kind offer and immediately messaged him back,
"that I'd be delighted to learn something from such a distinguished usenet
    figure."

Since then.. Morrow has nearly talked me to death about his committment ..
The epidemic memory loss that seems to inflict Tim and his faithful little
"fun loving band of flame warriors" causes me to remind him, once in a
    while..

Since the committment by Morrow is documented in these reems of usenet
judicious and entirely dependable archives of usenet, the event should be
    notable in historical documentation..

Since you have absolutely no interest in Bill Walker, it is clear that you
won't even favor him by joining the party.. Too bad.. But.. you are also
invited. Your usenet legal expertise might be invaluable to us all, before
Tim's visit with me is finished..

You really don't comprehend the written word real well do you?

    - You stated that your valid passport says you can cross
most borders in the world. It does not. That is not the nature
or purpose of a passport. Its purpose is identification.

    - I don't doubt that you have not been denied entrance to
other countries. Its quite rare. Most countries do not
even require visa for tourists anymore.

    - Recently there has been some discussion of requiring
passports between the US and our immediate neighbors
    http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

Details matter in the real world. They make the difference
in a lot of things, like riding safely or throwing the bike down,
    anytime there is some difficulty.

The "fist fighting terror of Canada" is correct Brian .. In context .. When
he posted the veiled threat about "killing a man in a fist fight" .. I
responded with something like, "I bet you did some time for that one..
huh".. And then went on to speculate about whether the Showboat could cross
    the border..

All of this exchange took place in January when he was whining and crying
about his own website version of hitting that woman on the highway..
Interestingly enough.. Road Glidin' Don posted that little item himself with
holes in it, big enough to ride three pegged up Harleys through.. Then he
went ballistic when I rode this Vulcan through those holes..

All the "killin' a man in a fist fight" .. commenced and it really turned
into performance by him.. hmmmm.. Now it has progressed to "house burning"
... sheesh.. My speculation and impression about the Canadian Showboat seems
to have been borne out to be faily accurate..

Yeah.. I'll have to take credit for that comment.. No contradiction is to be
presumed, though.. I suspect your reference is in contest of this latest
little flame war .. Strange how these boys have selective memory loss and
    recovery.. huh ?

There has been talk of the Canadian Government initiating a policy
where US citizens will be required to produce a passport to enter
    Canada.
