    Hi

Just looking for info on biking in South America...I might try to do the
whole continent in 3 months and would like to do it on a bike....would it be
better to buy one out there and then sell on? Rent? Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks

Back issues of Bike. Dan Walsh. And the Motorcycle Diaries, I suppose.

  4. Can't help you on the bike front, but you could have a look at Cynthia
Milton's yahoo list. She's in S America now, having gone 1/2 way round
    the world first.

Spoke to my son who's backpacked around parts of South America.
His main advice is "don't look rich" or you may become bandit
fodder. This was reflected in an article I read about a guy who
travelled the length of the SA-continent on an old Enfield
(Indian) Bullet that just about held together through the trip.
His philosophy was that nobody would want to steal a
manky-looking bike and if it broke down terminally he could just
dump it and carry on by other means, just like Che Guevara did.
