Hampshire's scheme under the bikesafe umbrella is called Edge44 - to
    quote from the website:

"Edge 44 is the scheme that Hampshire run under the Bikesafe initiative
in partnership with the Road Safety Unit of Hampshire County Council and
the Police supported by the Motorcycle Industry Association. This is a
rider assessment which lasts for about 4 hours and is conducted by one
assessor to two riders where ideas and tips are exchanged on riding
skills, other areas included are winter riding tips, suspension set-up,
actions at the scene of a collision and security measures available for
bikes and kit. The dates are arranged by mutual agreement between all of
    us."

I did this yesterday and have to say it was exactly what I needed. The
bulk of the time (in all nearly 5 hours) was spent concentrating on road
positioning - really using the road instead of the 'car driver' approach
I'd had up until then. It was all out of town stuff in the Hampshire
countryside. It also included discussing hazard awareness and as Peter,
our assessor, put it "travelling as smotthly and quickly as possible
    form hazard to hazard".

    In sumamry: recommended.

Mind you if you're riding a bike the Bikesafe course is the one that'll keep
you alive long enough to do the GCSE.

So your such a good rider you don't need to attend any course to
improve your riding then eh ?

Luck is a marvellous thing, the OP is trying to maximize his and good
    on him for doing so.

O'Contraire. Back in the summer, I was trying to get booked onto an
advanced training course. It got cancelled. A fortnight later - and
practically on the doorstep of the guy doing the course - I was crushed
beneath the wheels of a Volvo, my bones were broken, my bike was trashed.

I believe that is (or will) be re-arranged... ie DC hasn't forgotten.

Speaking of which, is it to early in the year to ask if you'll be doing your
thus-far regular July 'annoy the neighbours and set fire to stuff' event
    this year?

From my experience of BikeSafe, not necessarily - it's too short for one
    thing.

Aye I think it would, I'm just seeing it flying away behind me in the
distance.... way way way over my head.

    back to lurking methinks.

I hope so. I've asked DC if it would be possible to do short
refreshers for some people rather than the full w/e, that *may*
    incorporate the Platy w/e ;o)

    And he said *yes*

Now I've only got to discover that my next handling engagement in the
doggie world will be that fr*gging w/e.

Hmm, well traditionally (ie the last 3/4 years) we've done a full weekend,
planned to coincide with Platy's BBQ - thus giving 3 or 4 people who
otherwise may not have been in Bristol the chance to a) get the training b)
    attend the Platy Conflag.

With that in mind, can you not do your short day at another point - ie leave
it the way it is - or do a full course (Promise to not put you with anything
    below 599cc!) ? :)
