well, came from a local neighborhood meeting tonight.
The oakland police chief came. nice of him. A large
    variety of things were discussed.

Among them we issues that some folks living on or right near
Grizzly peak (south of claremont down to skyline) have with
bikes and noise and speed. Hammered on him enough that he
took some notes and mumbled some promises. Fair enough reaction.

I *did* point out that rare is the street bike that exceeds
noise limits. And those that do are usually Harleys with
a long line of cars behind waiting to pass :) A couple riders
    in the audience concurred.

Hell, most of the noise is from CHANGING speed, not actual
    velocity.

Oh, and yes, they are all legal streetbikes, not race bikes.

And it was brought up that them bad biker speeders also go and
hang out near Berkeley (The Wall) and Grizzly Peak was even
LISTED as a great place to race, right there on the web!
And why don't the police do anything?

Well, they may. esp on weekends.

So I might casually suggest that folks pay particular attention
to their riding up there and if it's raining, recall that the
speed limit is the max allowed during fine sunny weather.
So if you're going 30 or 40 (or whatever the posted speed limit is),
    you might get nailed anyway.

While most bikes DO drive reasonably (as I define reasonably), I
have been passed on my little 600, by the occasional yahoo.
On a corner. Inside of me. But those guys are darwin candidates.
I'd suggest they go off the edge where the houses are sparse, please.
    And no fires after April.

After parking issues were brought up (where the streets are narrow
and corners tight), I did suggest that if we all rode, then we'd
not have these issues.... The chief appeared amused.

    .....<snip>

I don't ride in that area, but it's nice to see there are people
    speaking on our behalf. Thanks!
