Bikes are dangerous and injure you

Well I went to A&E, but wish I hadn't bothered. A 2 hour wait, followed
by a couple of minutes prodding & bending by a 12 year old doctor, who
declared it 'a bit of a mystery'. He didn't know what was wrong, &
didn't seem remotely interested in finding out. No x-rays or scans,
just 'take something for the pain, & make an appointment for physio in
    a couple of weeks'.

He also told me to 'try to move it as much as possible', which is
exactly the opposite of what you're meant to do if it's a
    tendon/ligament problem aiui.

Looks like I'll be making an appointment to see my GP; maybe he'll be
more interested in figuring out what's wrong rather than just telling
me to do things which might make it worse.

I'm not surprised that the Tenere gave you a hard time. Personally I
wouldn't want to go off-road on anything much over 250cc. Bikes bigger
than that are likely to be too heavy and hard to manoeuvre on really rough
surfaces and twisty woodland tracks. Also - it helps to have something
light enough to pick up quite easily after lobbing it into a hedge. The
bikes used on the adventure day were mainly the CCM CX-R230 (they provided
all the bikes and all the riding gear).
I don't think I need to do that one again. I may try to find some green
lanes locally (Brentwood/Chelmsford area) and then take the TW200 out for
    some off road bimbles.

I'm glad you chipped in because I was going to say several hundred and
    KTM 2 strokes are shit.

The big Honda CRF 4-strokes are also 20 hours. Both they & the KTMs
will of course last much, much longer.

That 20 hour figure will be for race use and I don't think it's too bad
compared to other 2 stroke race bikes.

I'm sure TOG is involved somewhere along the line and he's got a
container load of top end rebuild kits.

  7. And this is exactly why I didn't bother. Two days later the swelling's
gone down and I've no concerns about riding my bike tomorrow.

Sounds great. I have a voucher to spend as well, but I'm still trying to
decide between the Hertfordshire one and the one in mid-Wales run by Mick
    Extance.

As a resident of Essex it was a no-brainer for me. 30 miles to get to
Herts versus 250 or so to the Mick Extance Wales venue.
