No, because my iMate worked this morning for a few calls that ran it
down to 20% battery. So I went to the mall, had a couple of calls
there, and bought this iPAQ. It's locked, so I've dropped the IMEI
onto some website promising to give me unlock code and instructions by
email. Paid via paypal's site (though used my CC) but haven't had an
email yet...

 

Even better, find someone with a T-Mobile SIM and get them to ask
T-Mobile to unlock it. Apparently they will do so, so long as the
existing account is in good standing.

If the unlocking that I've submitted (through the internet equiv of a
dodgy bloke down the pub) doesn't come through, I'll try that
tomorrow. There must be someone at work with T-Mobile.

 

I've bought it off-contract, but the hardware's still locked. How neg
is that?

 

Utterly shite, apparently T-Mobile have an exclusive deal on these with
HP, which is why I ended up not buying one.

 

I wish I'd known that this morning. I'd just have bought a cheap,
throwaway cell phone to get me through until I get back to Kuwait.

Apparently I should have got a 6340.
