this is me we're talking about; I need something reliable.

have you seen the all-black 'busa? It's bloody lovely.

The ZX12R was designed by a spaz.

well, yes, I do, but they're kinda expensive. It's a pity they don't
do an SP version i.e. like the R, but without the 2 sets of
everything, and just the trick bits in road-going form. I mean, it's
not that I'd ever actually be racing the thing, is it?
he's always complaining about it, though.
    I've had a /short/ go on Si's Mille, and liked it. I didn't really
give it a chance to "go for it", because Simon didn't know where we
    were going.
I think the tuono's ever so slightly higher again, but really, the
seat height is not a concern in the slightest (I've had an R30,
    remember).
Z750 - is that available yet? In any case, I'd never buy a 750 version
of something if a 1000 was available. I'd forgotten about Raptor. Not
sure about either the looks or the reliability. Fazer thou leaves me
    cold.

this is the current top choice.

Heart says either the "Z1000" or the "Tuono".

Wallet says "Z1000" out of those two.

    Head says "2nd hand pre-sorted Bandit 1200".

    "The Voices" say "supermoto-ed DR-Z400".

After Feb 24th, insurance co. may well say "CG125".

Raptor spares and backup are very hard to come by.

I'd expect nothing else from a non-mainstream Italian marque.

How about a CB1100 X11. Lot of bike for little money and you could spend
the savings on making it look a bit nicer.

Sure. What's needed is a 3rd party adjudicator. Hmm - would I rather
    be Darsy or Will...

If it didn't have those linked brakes, I'd consider it.

You get adaptors for it, maybe find one that's already been fitted with
    them.

Beers again? We'll go to some pubs that don't get arsey about
    trainers.

Yep - first tests appearing in the magazines
Fair point. Its niche is the naked/half faired middleweight market -
designed to go against Fazer and Hornet 600s.

That is, indeed, a very good point. And one that nearly put me off
    buying it.
