You did it to my CB500 in the carpark of the ER after a BOTAFOT.

Had my heart in my mouth I did.

It was the one where you rode side saddle around the Bicester ring road on
    your ZZR

Wasn't me occifer, I never break the law :)

That'd be the day I had two desperately underinflated tyres and wondered
why it was handling like a pregnant hippo on roller skates and spinning
up coming out of sharp corners. I had a good dice with MattG down the
    4011 IIRC.

I reckon a simpler idea would be to have single, large diameter[1],
sufficiently thick[2] steel disc with the severed head [3] of a large
coach-bolt welded to the underside & centre of the disc. The bike
wouldn't appear terribly stable - but certainly wouldn't be going anywhere
of its own accord and would facilitate easy rotating the bike.

    [1] couple of feet diameter?
    [2] 10mm thick?
    [3] 3-5mm thick?

OK, but this time we let 15 psi out of your tyres.

The two metal plates as used by car MOT workshops for turning the front
    wheels during the test?

Circular pub beer trays is what you want. Take one and cut around it
to remove the rim. Put an amount of oil in the other sufficient to
cover the whole of the bottom and place the rimless one inside it.

He-presto, the rimless one will rotate quite happily inside the rimmed
one on a nice bed of oil.

How it'll rotate with the weight of a bike on it, mind...

Throw in a layer of little ball bearings?

That would be better. Would need to be very small ones and completely
cover it though otherwise the tray would dent into gaps between the
    bearings.

And they cost money as well.

I never tried with any of the ZZRs. I always thought the sidestand was a
bit flimsy looking at the best of times.

  16. Indeed, one of the reasons it's now only tried if there's REALLY no
other option. Plus of course the fecker weighs a ton.....

  18. Add arthritic hands and wrists into the equation (and knees and

  19. The other fly in the ointment - mine isn't a nice 9R with race shocks
on - it's a Tiger with about 3x the travel in the suspension.

It shocks people that someone as scrawny looking as me can lift both
wheels of the 9R off the deck, but it is actually very easy to do.
