Hi all, any ideas on how best to get a bike from Southampton to
Burton-upon-Trent economically? Local (to the bike) bike shop wants £1 per
    mile, that's £360!

    Cheers

Realistic: Get a train/coach down, ride it back.
Best possible: Get a willing but ultimately naive mate to lend you his
    car and bike trailer.

It's only 190 miles. That's about £15 in petrol for the bike I
    suppose...

Get a train down and ride it back up?
Get a lift from the rife and ride the bike back up?

I found it cheaper to fly with SleazyJet when I bought Colin's
Thunderace and then Hog's Gixer. Colin's was a simple flight from Luton
to Newcastle and ride home the same day, Hog's was a flight out, a night
in Holywood oggling the local high quality totty, then a ride back via
the Dublin Port/Holyhead ferry. The flight was much quicker than the
    train too.

Is that the Burton Upon Trent next to Edinburgh?

    A) Take the train there.

    B) Hire a van and collect it.

    C) Ask them to take it to pieces and post it a part at a time.

    D) Invent a teleport machine.

    E) Look in the Southampton yellow pages under "Really big catapults"

    F) Simply rename Southampton to Burton-upon-Trent.

191 according to AutoRoute - but I selected the fastest route, not the
    shortest.

Don't fleabay people keep advertising bike transport under the
motorbike auctions section? Isn't it a £50 flat rate anywhere in the
    uk for delivery?

How to find one: Look at the Motorcycles category, then scroll down
until you find a picture of a van.

    It's quite simple really....
