Ah, towing a bike as opposed to towing a bike on a trailer. I don't
    know.

Isn't that against EU free trade laws or somesuch?

  6. Doubt it. Individual EU countries' vehicle licensing and legality and
C&U requirements are all different. Think 14 year-olds being allowed to
ride 50s in France (and elsewhere) and those little French micro-cars.

I take your point, but you're talking about usage, not trade. There
shouldn't be anything stopping you from buying a RHS sidecar kit if you
want like there shouldn't be anything stopping me from buying a bike
over 100BHP. Ah. Er. As you were.

Safety, innit? Mandating a configuration that swerves into the oncoming
traffic when you close the throttle makes perfect sense.

Let us know the result - the Shuttle treats a 'bike with trailer' as a
car for tariff and all other purposes, much to my chagrin when I tried
to blag mine through a couple of months ago. :(

I wound up having to pay an extra GBP100 all told for the return
journey, 'excess on the day' and all that. All because some snotty
thing in a yellow jacket tried to be helpful and punch the
    self-validation screen for me. Grr...

Stop trying to explain it with logic :)

I'm explaining it with /my/ logic. If that makes sense.
