That's the impression I get. And since he's about a three minute walk
away, I think I may have to start supporting my local economy at some
point. He gets some very tidy looking bikes in and always has time for
    some fat-chewing too.

  2. Well, if you're close to Hughes you're only five minutes from the
Chateau. Fancy a pint some time?

So, theoretically then, if one had an RSV mille one was thinkong of changing
for something else in the next 6-9 months, would trading it in in late
November be a better bet than one's original plan of selling it privately in
the next few weeks and then buying something in Spring? <fx: examines bank

What you'd save on the next one would probably be balanced out by the
lowered trade-in value of the Mille.

Well, trouble with Huskys seems to be that residual values are about
as stable as a bucket full off nitroglycerine...

All not being helped by the fact that they appearantly stopped
production recent-ish shortly before they were sold to Piaggio AFAIR.

Too close to the subject, they are. Plus, due to their emotional
attachment to their trade/shop/job, they've got a blind spot exactly
blanking out the freight train coming their way. Been there, done
that, lost the T-shirt and a lot more.

If anything, it reflects the financial savvy that is prevalent among a
    large part of the population...

I'm looking to around then for picking up a nice used one.

Other than making sure I'm buying in the winter slump, timing's not
too important as it's more of a "I want one of them, I want it now, and
there's no such thing as a new one" situation.

    Fingers crossed...

Makes perfect sense to me :))

Whereabout's are you anyway, I though you were over Sutton way?

  18. I'm right at the Carshalton end of Sutton - the border is one or two
    streets away.

Eh? They don't you know. Piaggio own Vespa, Gilera & Derbi. MV Agusta
SpA own Cagiva & Husqvarna (motorcycles, not chainsaws/lawn
mowers/fridges etc). Proton are a major shareholder in MV as of this
year, & have put shedloads of money in, ensuring a happy future, for a
    while at least.

They very nearly did at the end of last year when MV was teetering.
They were granted the Italian equivalent of Chapter 11 to protect them,
then the Proton deal went through.
I spent a few hours riding a 1000 in France a few months back, & whilst
the engine's stonking, I didn't like the handling as much as my 750.
    They've switched to a 70 front tyre (from a 65), & increased the rake a
tad so the taller tyre clears the radiator. The result is the
    steering's noticeably slower.

The Engine Braking System took a bit of getting used to. It's similar
to the Honda MotoGP system i.e. it bleeds air in to reduce the vacuum
when you shut the throttle. The result is you get some engine braking
down to 3k rpm, then it goes away, making it feel like you've suddenly
    started accelerating again. Most strange.
They seem to so far. I imagine the 750s will hold up even better now
    they've stopped making them.
They're completely bonkers! MV tried one with the 1000 engine, but
decided it was a bit too hairy.

Yeah a few Brit mags have said similar things, & it's bollox. I wonder
if the throttle bodies had been fucked about with on the test bikes.
Given who the Brit importer is, it wouldn't surprise me.
