Apologies if this has already been posted, but here is an article about bike theft. Apparently, more are stolen than are bought new! Not sure about that one but here's the link anyway: http://tinyurl.com/3cqo8 Regards to all. Interesting. It says the most common method of theft is to lift the bike into the back of a van then recommends fitting an immobilisor as the first line of defence.
Or, for those with decent newsreaders: http://money.msn.co.uk/Bank_Plan/insurance/Journals/TakeCover/MotorbikeTheft/default.asp
Makes perfect sense - more already owned bikes are in existance than those that have yet to be sold. Ergo - more bikes available to be stolen.
Well, that'll prevent people from stealing them by riding them away. I'd guess that they meant that most *successful* thefts are those committed by carrying it off in a van. It's not always possible to anchor the bike in a parking area.
And "If things go wrong, make sure you are covered by a good insurance company" So not up until things go wrong then?
Didn't you notice it was written by an insurer, in theory one that sells insurance products and fits immobilisers.
