What is the best way to store your bike for the winter, on the deck on its
side stand or on a set of front and rear paddock stands.

I find the best way is in a cardboard box under the bed.

Wheels off the ground stops you getting possible tyre damage which can
happen if the weight on the bike is left pressing on the same bit iof the
    tyres for months.

It's a bit like bed sores so you could try rolling the bike over every few
    hours.

  4. I was off the road at this time last year and stored my bike on its
stand. Apart from moving the wheels round 1/4 turn every week there
wasn't anything I did to it.

Do you clear your carbs? [1] Dry fuel can be a problem.

[1] Don't know whether your CBR1000 is F or RR

Put some fuel preserver in, and some fogging oil into the bores if you
    care enough to.
It's like no CBR you've ever seen. :)

  11. I forgot to mention that I ran the tank to nearly dry when I parked it
up and then every week/every other week I put half a beer can's worth of
fuel in, started it and let it run for 10 or 20 minutes. I did this
refuelling thing every time I started it and come April I had about half
    a tank to play with.
F, and see wessie's post. I did see a worse example than mine today
though, complete with smashed but still attached Tempest fairing :)

  12. Why thank you.

I got the battery sorted. Gave it a quick blat up the M1 and luckily
joined the carriageway at 60 after a Burger King at Heston Services just
as two plod on bikes were going past.
You'll be having to wait a lot longer than a few days.
It has transformed. Apart from the exhausts and seat it doesn't look at
    all like what it did.

Barcelona... Say "there was" cos some lowlife scum stole it :-(

Or did you mean a Blade? I can't believe anyone would be gash enough to
spray up a 1000F in factory colours ... say it isn't so.

It was so. A Repsol Replica 1000F.

Next step will be spraying the "Principe de Asturias" in Movistar replica
colors. See second pic in [1] for details. Actually, 46.000 hp is a nice
power figure, although cornering is a bit slow, but not much slower than the
    1000F.

Were you responsible for this outrage? :)

    No. I have principles.

Anyway, I should paint my Thunderace before summer (a matter of posing in La
Costa) and rather than race replica shite, I'll spray on a side of the
fairing small figures of Twin Ion Engine fighters, Imperial Cruisers and the
Death Star. Strong is the Force in me. Has anyone seen on eBay a decent R2
unit for the passenger seat? (I shouldn't have borrowed that DVD edition of
    the second trilogy...)
    lol.
Mat Tab used to call his 1000F "Floaty Bloaty Bus"

Google fr.rec.moto for a comparison of the Diversion 900 against this kind
    of boat. Funny :)

There's a bloke over in the states whos sprayed a 1000F in race colours
and grafted USD forks and high level cans onto it... different it is.

My old mate Stub painted his fully faired FS1E in Skoal Bandit Suzuki
    colours, the twonk.

It looked great, but was the wrong make of bike.

    Deadly serious.

He now owns the cleanest and most pampered NC30 you have ever seen.
Bought used for way over the book value because it had immaculate
panels, then he shipped the lot to Dream Machine for a Rothmans
paintjob. Then he shipped it back 3 times for them to do it correctly
and the way *he* wanted it, not their interpretation of his very precise
    instructions and drawings.

That'll be another customer they've lost then.

He was 16 at the time, you have to forgive him on the grounds that he
was young and overenthusiastic with the spray cans.

Just think of the crimes against motorcycling that you commited at that
age. His pales into insignificance when I think of some of the things
other friends of mine did to mopeds and small motorcycles.
