yes i'm one of those fairweather riders!
there's so many opinions on how to store your bike over winter.

1 Would anyone care to share their good/bad bike storage experiences
over what they have/have not done over many winters?
2 what can I buy a battery tender from a tried and tested online seller?

  2. Hang up key until weather or alcohol kicks in.

If battery dead, get drunk mates to push....

    Simple really.

    I often just park 'em.

    If you feel fanatical:
    - disconnect and remove battery.
    - drain carbs
    - fill tank to the brim with petrol, which will be thrwn away when
you start it up again or empty completely and coat the inside with oil.
    - spray all exposed metal with something like lanoguard or furniture wax
spray. WD40 will evap, a wax will stay.
    - cover it with a soft cover, if the bike is outside add a waterproof
cover well tied down so it can't flap or move at all.

www.jaycar.com.au have a tender for autmotive lead acid batteries,
    about 40 bucks or so.

What you do is, you buy some thermal underwear, some heated grips,
winter jacket, pants, gloves, boots etc, neck warmer, then you put it in
your garage, with no other special preparations. At least once a week then,
you don all the winter gear, and take it for a ride.
Ride it a few times a week and you won't need one.

  14. You can push start DFI bikes, they don¹t like it much though. Takes quite a
while before they stop carrying on.

Not much of a problem, only if you are fair weather rider, so who cares?

    Hi Aaron,

Yes, it's going very well on the work front, but there is precious little
time left for enjoying the place other than at a restaurant level. People
are all extremely friendly and I think I'll continue to enjoy my tenure here
for the next 3 months or so.

So far, no biking but I'm thinking of bringing my helmet and some gear up
one of these days for some weekend activity. Should be fun!

    Cheers,

Sometimes the battery has enough juice to run the EFI _or_ the
starter, but not both. So pushing works well.
Parking a bike over winter, I'd put the battery on a battery tender,
turn the fuel off, drain the float bowls and leave it somewhere dry.
Come spring, pump up the tyres and off you go.

  19. Maybe I haven't drained the carbs on the FI bike, that'll do it!

Be there, or be somewhere else, I guess...
