Bike stalling?

Encountered my first show stopper today after 18 months on the GPX.
Bike starts fine, revs fine in neutral, revs fine in gear with the clutch
in, as soon as there is a hint of releasing the clutch it stalls. I was out
there a good 10 minutes revving and stalling this morning before giving up
and jumping on the bus. (I was already running late).
It only happens in the cold, I'm wondering if it's a fuel delivery problem,
or perhaps the stand switch is faulty and it doesn't realise the stand is
    up?
    Any ideas?

Sounds like the sidestand switch is playing up.

If you didn't already know, there is small switch at the base of the
sidestand will kill the engine if you release the clutch in gear and
the stand is down. They can be prone to gunking up & not release
properly - give it a bit of a poke & prod, along with a squirt of
    RP7/WD40.

  4. Unscrew the switch off the clutch lever, and see if you still have the
problem. If not, then it is the side-stand switch. If you do, however, still
have the problem, then it is the fueling.

The side stand switch can very easily get gunked up and it will cause you no
end of troubles then. It sounds like it needs a thorough clean.

.... and and affectionate tussle with a pair of sidecutters.
