    Let us know how much the quote was and who gave you the quote. Split
    vinyl on a motorcycle seat is too common.

    I wonder why nobody has invented a seat cover that doesn't ever
    split. How does a leather seat cover hold up, compared to a vinyl and
    foam one?

    The leather seat cover on the Old Girl was fine.

    The seat pan underneath had rusted away.

    I have no idea if these two facts are related.
