Bike Recommendations

    I may be wrong here Zebee, but perhaps Sandgroper doesn't think 2 is a
    great number of cylinders, but might be too polite to say so.

    I am not overly keen on the Kawasakis , particularly the styling on the newer ones
    specially the Z1000... fuckin hideous. like a machinemen or something
    like that.. shame they didnt keep the original styling. still one of
    my favs, the Z900 will always be kewl.

    I don't mind how many cylinders a bike has , just as long there is a even
    number like 2 , 4 .... etc.

  8. The four cylinders in my CB1300 work just fine, and everything so far
    suggests they will keep doing so for as long as I keep fresh oil in it
    and pour flammables into the top.

    I was tossing up between CB900 and CB1300, too. With lots of pillion
    work in mind, and because I like lazy engines that remind me of
    locomotives, the 13 won out. 3000km later I'm still convinced. Finish
    is great and maintenance easy. Corners just fine and brakes are from
    the Fireblade. The porkiness of its 245kg curb weight vanishes as soon
    as the thing gets moving.

    Not many 13s seem to have done big mileages, most being owned by
    weekend riders of a certain age (including moi). There should be some
    good bargains around.

    The Bandit 1250S is worth a ride. The six-speed box makes it even more
    relaxed for highway work (3200rpm at 100km/h) and the bike handles and
    works much better than the previous Bandit 1200. Seat sucks and the
    digital speedo is plain ugly.

    Yeah , I have ridden a 1300 when my bike was getting a service and I have
    found that it seems to be a bit more smoother/refined and with a few extra
    bits as compared to the 900 Hornet.
    With the physical dimensioins , they are both farily much nearly the same in
    length , width and seat height , except that the 1300 is about 40 - 45 Kgs
    heavier.
    I really haven't seen many second hand 1300s in Perth bike yards , they seem
    to be a bit scarce here , I have got my eye on a brand new black 2006 1300F
    model without any faring , apparently it's the only black one left in Perth.
    ( and I am not telling anybody where it is :) )

    But as people have suggested , ride a few bikes first before deciding on
    what one to get.
