Not for me. Mate @ work.

Got pinged of his R30 by a bus recently. [1]

    Needs new wheels.

    Requirements:

Shaft drive - he's more of a liability with chains than Dnc.
Narrow. to get down side of house. Big beemers not considered.
Comfortable from M1 J5 to City.

I can't think of anything, to be honest.

[1] Broke the # plate off the back - insurance estimate just in £2200.

New: tank, seat unit, wheel, exhaust, etc.

He's thinking of taking the cash, and fixing the plate bracket
    himself. Assuming this is possible.

Buell - Its not a shaft but its not a chain and you didn't specify reliable.

Oh, you said comfortable. Best ask Petel that. I suspect it'll depend on
    the bloke's size but ......

    Dullsville
    Revere
    XJ900
Divvie 900 & FJR maybe too wide
    CX500

Alternative to shaft: belt drive BMW CS 650 single. I had one as a loan
bike. Excellent around town. Very narrow profile. Low gearing for
traffic light GP. Expensive new though, £5k.

Introduce him to the joys of a Scottoiler with touring reservoir. He'll
only have to fill it a couple of times a year then forget about it, & a
quality chain & sprockets should last 30k miles. Then he can get the
bike he really wants, rather than one of the few that meet that rather
    restrictive & stupid (imo) requirement.

  10. Not many narrow shafties around. The last I can think of was the old
    VT500, in the 1980s.

He was thinking 1150GS, but it's not exactly narrow for filtering, and
he's no man-mountain; more of a skinny Ginge.

The thing we can't figure is: as the bike didn't go over[1], why does
it need a new tank? I think the estimate is *way* off the mark, tbh.
The assessor's having a look on Monday.

There's a new sidestand on the list, too. FK why.

I think he's just hoping it's binned, so he doesn't have to go through
    the hassle of getting rid.

[1]The bendy-bus hit the back of it, breaking the number plate bracket
off. The bumper jammed onto the swing-arm (undamaged, apparently), and
Ali just got off it, and left it there. The bike was then pulled
    clear.

I reckon it's "fixable" for under £50, myself.

I was assuming the chap was trying to get it down a normal entry and not
    through the fucking letterbox.

T3 width is given as 0.78m; Le Mans II 0.610m and Spada as 0.75m - I
can't see a modern one being much different.

What's the approximate width of, say, a GT550?
