Bike paint source?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot, Nov 16, 2006.

  1. Is there a known and recommended place where tins of spray paint for the
older motorcycle are sold? Specifically for my 1988 Vitiligo. I can't find
anything on it that looks like a colour code and the two closest Yam dealers
made no sense at all of the letters and numbers I sent them.

Take a small sample of it to an automotive paint supplier - they'll be
able to match it and supply you with paint either in a can or as an
    aerosol.

Proper aerosols are much better than the shite you can buy at Halfords.

I don't mind paying a little extra when it's right first time. There's
good paint, and there's cheap paint, it's one of the few instances where
you do actually get what you pay for, from what I'm told.

noted - however (IMHO) my local paint supplier is excellent and much
cheaper. This based on a comparison of 1/2 litre of paint for my Z1R I
bought from them (£17) and someone else bought the same from RS (£41).

    but hey - your money.

They are Friggin expensive. I bought some tins (1) from them for my cbr400rr -
    white, red and blue.

But, I have to say, they matched really closely.
