    In communiqué <1iwmbwf.i7jzzneq4hacN%>,
Just so. The 'official' designation is open to argument amongst AMC
(there's another one for you) anoraks.

Competition Sports Road - say some including Wikipedia.

No argument abut the 'C', but the 'S' was generally used to mean
'Sprung'. There were certainly 'CS' models way after they stopped making
anything that was rigid rear suspension and the famous 16C was sprung
but not called a 16 CS - which was the 'scrambler'

The 7R was of course the 'Boy Racer' but though Matchless machines were
built in C, CS and CSR versions, the racers were just G45 and G50.

I favour Competition Sprung Road as being the definitive meaning.

Oh, and Albert Jack (John) Stevens[1] and 31 = 650. But you knew that.

[1] Company originally founded in Wolverhampton and the centenary is in
    November this year.

  12. tis indeedie. verb-einspritzen; noun-Einspritzung. mit kapital E.
E first appeared on the 124 200E when it was no longer carbed.
    You are correct.
    wherein lies said confusion?
Has sir perchance imbibed some vino?
Whiskey (with an e)[1] is reccomended for restoring clarity.

The confusion started in about 1984 with the 190 which was the model,
followed by the 200 which was the engine size, with an optional E for
    injection.
It stopped 10 years later when they reverted to C, E and S for the model
    names.
    A 190E crashes well. :)
