    Bloody Sore Arse, according to my old man (RHS), who despatched on one
    in 1944. Far inferior to the contemporary Velocette, as far as ride
    quality and saddle comfort went, although the Velo, of course, had its
    own little quirks.

    My Unc relates buying a brand new Gold Star and setting off on a tour of
    Italy, by the time he made it back the bike was pretty much fucked. Pissing
    oil everywhere, had broken down daily, bits broken and/or fallen off. It was
    then when he went out and bought his R69 .... he still has that bike and
    it's never broken down or pissed oil.
