    Does anyone know that they actually mean and what they stand for?

    In that, what does GSXR, CBR, VFR etc etc actually mean?

    I guess that the R is Race, but what about the rest?

    As far as Honda are concerned, the V model designations should be pretty
    obvious:

    VF = V-Four
    VT = V-Twin

    I doubt most of the letters mean much though, especially for Japanese
    bikes where the important decisions aren't going to be taken in anything
    like a Latin alphabet.

    So VFR would be V-Four Race? So whats an RVF then? Race V-Four?

    But it's not an R1. It's a YZF-R1.
    And you would expect a YZF-R6 to have a six-litre engine.

  8. I expect most groups of letters were chosen because they sounded good to
    Japanese earoles.

    So if an R6 is 600cc, an R1 is surely 100cc? Or Would R10 be more
    consistent?

    Oh. I thought it was Bayerischer Motorrad Werke or something like
    GS = Gelande Strasse (ISTR it was originally written G/S)

    Sorry - my mistake, although:

    "Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (info) (BMW), (English: Bavarian Motor Works)"

    I have no idea where Bremen came from, I blame my dad!
