Any technical bods got an idea on this one:

    A mate has a stock '96 zzr600 which misses/gets jerky inbetween 10-11k
    and 13-14k

He's run through 3 tanks to clean out any old petrol and tried redex.
    Anyone got any ideas?

I start the ball rolling with: check plugs and leads - sounds
electrical. I haven't got a clue when it comes to fuelling

    Cheers

Dodgy connection(s) and resonance? Check sidestand cut-out switch (if
it's got one), kill switch etc.

  3. Water in the fuel, perhaps. Is it carbed or injected? If carbed, that's
the kind of thing that happens when the water in the carb bowls reaches
    a critical level.

    Also...

Check all low tension connections to the ignition system, especially the
skinny wires to the triggers on the crank end.
