Anybody out there got a subscription to Bike? Before Christmas I got
an "it may be late email" but still nothing has arrived yet. Anybody
receive their copy yet? Just wondering if its just me or if there are
any others still waiting. To be honest this will probably be the
final straw as the quality of the magazine has dropped through the
floor and the likelyhood of renewing the subscription us slim.

    Have subscription, have no magazine.

The quality isn't great but I do still enjoy it so will keep my sub
    going for a little longer.

    Thanks for the input guys

Mine will probably arrive in a couple of days then as we live in the
wilds of Worcestershire and I am sure our Postman opens my copy and
    reads it first.

Part of my role with the bus group I'm involved with is dealing with
    magazine subscriptions through 3rd -parties.

Over the past few days I've had a lot of emails from our members telling
me their mag of choice hasn't arrived only to get another one another 2
days later to tell me it has.

I think Royal Mail have had a hissy fit with the holiday and weather but
are not telling people they couldn't cope.

I'd give it a few more days then complain to your supplier.

  8. Picked up a copy at LHR in 31 December.

It's a shit issue. Liked Chippy's piece and the "riding with your eyes
shut" article, and skimmed the rest.

I quite honestly can't understand this brand loyalty thing. My next
bike is most likely going to be another Triumph

I cancelled it a few years ago after around 15 years of subscription - it
    got v. boring.

I gave up with most bike mags when they all went:

    Issue x: 600 shootout
    Issue x+1: 1000 shootout
Issue x+2: 600 shootout inc. the new (year+1) model
Issue x+3: 1000 shootout inc. the new (year+1) model
Issue x+4: 600 shootout with all (year+1) models
Issue x+5: 1000 shootout with all (year+1) models

My Classic Bike arrived very late, along with a note saying they'd had
manufacturing problems, so for once Royal Mail appear to be off the
    hook.

Mine may be a Kawasaki. I haven't had one of them since 1990 so I must
    be due another.

I never got round to cancelling, but due to a banking glitch at sub
renewal time it failed to renew a couple of years back, so it saved me
    the bother.

  15. Every month it falls on the mat and I flick through it,and think I
*must* cancel this, and then forget it until next month. Then next
month it falls on the mat.....

The same thing happened to me and I was thinking of subscribing again
so I'm quite grateful for this thread as I probably won't bother now.

I think CT has the right of it.

Motorcycle Sport and Leisure (cue derisive responses) is/was a bit
different in that it has articles about bike trips and people who do
them which I enjoy reading. It does seem to have started going the
same way as the pack since Tony Carter became editor I'm sad to say.
Hopefully it won't go all the way to 'me too' and will remain an
    enjoyable read.

Even in the great days of MCS there were such trip reports, but I have
to say that I stopped subscribing after a couple of years of the & L
version. It went downhill IMO once the letters pages became just one
page. There were some priceless long running exchanges. I suppose the
online forum thread has taken their place, but the considered replies
published a month apart made the clashes more entertaining than the
    ya-boo stuff.

I can't decide. My GSXR comes up for three years old this June, but
other than an 1198S[1], nothing really floats my boat to replace it
    with.

So I'll just keep it, as it by far the best bike I've ever ridden.

I feel the same about my soon-to-be-7-year-old gixer. There are newer
bikes out there that look interesting, but none so much so to convince
    me to spend the money.

Mind you, crn probably says the same about his GS500...

  20. I too hanker after a nice GS500 or a tidy low mileage XBR and to a certain
extent am quite glad I am too poor to even think about venturing into the
newer bike market because the stuff on offer is so uninspiring, unless you
are buying at the max power end of it and even then..
