I certainly find the Garmin easier to use with gloves on than I did
the TomTom. If I wasn't going to be doing winter trips I'd probably
use a case and a cheaper satnav or go back to my old method of
chucking a cheap car satnav in the top of a small tankbag.

I had to be restarined when i had a problem with that bunch of cunts. The
thing broke on the french run, they told me i had done it & they wouldnt do
anything about it!! The fucking thing was only 3 weeks old.

I grabbed the managed by his tie & told him i would be waiting outside until
he finished work. Chicken shit called the police.

Bunch of proper horrible wankers to be avoided at all costs. Sheffield
    scumbags.

Despite what most folk might think, i am quite a restrained type of bloke,
but that **** was a proper fucking arrogant **** & to be fair, if they hadnt
called the police, i would have decked the shitbag.

I mean, ffs, he called me 'squire' I replied to this by saying if he called
me anything other than my name i would rip his fucking lung out.

I reckon they are selling nicked gear, even though it's a Toyota dealership,
it's fucking shady, they will not do *anything* on warranty for anyone.

    VERY shady indeed.

I'm gonna dig out an old ebay account & buy 20 or 30 satnavs off em to piss
    the cunts off.

Because they'll never be able to find him.

Not using their own GPS, anyway.

    <snip>

Looking on satnaveasy.co.uk they are offering a range of Garmin units
    with:

"This Product is a Garmin remanufactured white boxed product. Full 12
Months warranty and in 'as new' condition. "

Anyone any dealings or knowledge of this? It puts a Zumo 550 Deluxe for
    £333.

Thanks. I'd like one but kinda feel that I can't justify *that* much.

I am thinking of 2nd hand and guess I need to do a feature comparison of
    the 400, 500 & 550.

I do want european maps but not fussed if that has to be on an extra
    memory card.

The first few Zumos on Pentagon were also refurbs.

Where could I find new ones for that price? it's an attactive
    proposition.

  14. for use with gloves on.
I went with second hand, paid about 100 quid for mine (400) three years
ago (after the last one caused Simon Weller and I to spend a happy hour
or so going around in circles on some housing estate in holland).

I think the biggest difference (from memory between the 400 and 500 is
the bluetooth. I've never been bothered by the fact I don't get audio
prompts; and I don't want my GPS to play music to me, that's what my
iPod's for. I suppose it might be handy to be able to use it with a
phone but, in reality this would mean I got work calls from suppliers
and others when I'm on holiday and I would be pretty poor at saying "I'm
    on leave".

If/when it dies or is lost/stolen I will probably go for a new one- I've
used it enough to justify it.

  15. I bought a remanufactured Garmin (model before Zumo range) several years
ago. It was OK for a few years and then got flaky.

I bought a Nuvi for the sister-in-law's birthday from Ebuyer that was a
Garmin White-boxed version. It literally was just that. Exactly the same
inside the box as buying a new one off the shelf, but in a plain white box.
    Same guarantee.

The latest European maps are so large that to get them even on a 550
you have to have western europe, say, in the Zumo and eastern europe
    on your SD card.

Unless you get so pissed off trying to load maps you bite the bullet
and buy them on a card from Garmin. I've now got the lot on one card
and a disc at home that will still be ok as a back up.

<g> Once you know how, which I now do, loading maps is absolutely
    straightforward.

I know but I'm very lazy and didn't want to be fucking about with SD
cards when we go to Scandinavia.
