Bike - fuel problem

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Cataractonium, May 10, 2004.

  1. Hello everyone,

    I need a bit of advice/help please.

My bike, XJ600, has been stood in the garage for over a week. This evening
when I took it out and started it up I left it ticking over for a few
minutes, when I noticed a little pool of fuel forming underneath it. I took
off one of the side panels and noticed that fuel was dripping out of a kinda
overflow pipe and one of the air filters.

Does anyone know what the likely problem is and hopefully how I can solve
it. Thanking you all in advance.

  2. At least one of your float needle valves are stuck open.

It is probable that a considerable amount of fuel has leaked into the
engine oil, so it is important you fix the problem and change oil
before you start it up again.
