I recently purchased a dirt bike over the net &
I'm looking to transport it from Syd to Adel.
Can anyone suggest a reliable (experienced) carrier & an estimate of cost.

    TIA

So nothing's changed with TNT then.

When I was a boy, I received stock from assorted carriers for
a supermarket/variety store. Our general approach was to check
boxes to make sure they were sealed and not dented or crushed.
If it was glassware, pick it up and shake it.

With TNT, if it was glassware, just write it off - don't
waste time with shaking every box - you *know* they're
    broken.

I've never seen a company before or since that so consistently
delivered goods in a fucked state of their own doing.

Wouldnt trust TNT to take my rubbish to the tip personally .
They picked up a $40,000 Cat engine from Hallam , managed to
drop it from the forklift at truck tray height.
They acknowledged that they did the damage but reneged on the
    responsibility part .
Fked the front engine mounts + fan etc and bell housing valued at
some incredible value esp when shipped by air from the USA to
arrive in Australia on time to enable fitting to a new machine.
They want about 2 grand to insure the load for a 3/4hr ride to
Rosebud . We now pick up our own or use the Tow truck guys who
are insured for around $50,000 at no extra cost.

I have used TNT for parts shipment from Sydney to Rosebud before
the above incident and found them efficient and affordable as we
have an account where I work, ( without the account the price was
    stratospheric).
It would pay to stick with the experts for bikes IMHO.
