    That's fine.

Another option which might be better for you is if I can get it to
Brighton in one piece I can drop it off at your place and then piss
off home in a following car or on a train, leave the bike + Haynes BOL
with you to fiddle until you can make a judgement on its future.

If you say it's not economical to repair then I'll agree with you. If
you say it's fixable then I can leave you the bike and my credit card
details so you can order the bits online and have them shipped direct.

If this is more convenient then I'm happy to do it as it will relieve
the perceived pressure of having to do everything all in one day or an
    evening.

Would you find this acceptable or am I imposing?

The way I see it is, if I give it to a local garage to tinker with
here then I've no idea what they're doing and my previous experience
of them indicates they're not doing a good job. I would rather give it
to Someone Who Knows and agree a labour cost to pay in cash or beer
tokens (whichever you prefer) without tax being shaved off the top. At
least I know it's going to someone with a reputation who is likely to
do a decent job of it.

The bike would be left totally at MY risk so if it gets nicked or
damaged in any way while being worked on, waiting to be worked on,
stored or tested at home or on the road then I wouldn't hold you
responsible at all. If it's uneconomical to repair then it's worth
    more to me stolen anyway.

This would be easy and relatively quick once I get back. No, it wouldn't
be an imposition. You still have my email address?

I think so. I'll bash an email away.
