Well, sorry for my late entry, but there's a question that needs answering
before this one; What were the circumstances leading up to the drag?

What I mean is, was there a car waiting at a red light (who might have been
in a hurry), then the bike lane-split up to him and sat next to his front
    guard?

If that's the case, then I'd imagine that the car took off as hard as he
could in order to ensure the bike didn't casually dawdle off the line. I
know that's happened to me before.

But other than that, I can only suggest that since there are very few cars
that could beat most bikes, they're interested to see how much they lose by.
It's still a decent measuring tool even if you lose =)

Did I say you needed to be at 100% all the time? For a lot of people out
there (such as yourself), even 50% would be a huge improvement! And it's not
about whether or not you make mistakes, but whether you drive/ride in such a
way as to give yourself time/space to rectify your mistakes before they
    result in an accident.

If cars are little, then what's the word you use to describe the size of
    bikes?

Getting a bit pedantic there. And besides, the little jingle I was taught
was, "Look to the right, look to left, look to the right again - then if the
road is clear of TRAFFIC, walk straight across the road <don't run!> walk
    straight across the road."

  13. Or you drive/ride in such a way to concentrate on avoiding others mistakes,
because if they hit you it's your fault for not anticipating their
    stupidity.

The first time this ever happened to me I was highly amused at the
reaction of the 351 V8 ford driving yobbo who lost to me on my 1984 model
clapped out RG250WE. He was not impressed. He was even less impressed
when the cops pulled him over and ignored me.

  20. I have it on good authority, its cause you start to drool and point to the
V8 Turbo badge on the "bus".
