Bike/Car Drags - why do you bother?

  1. That's the problem with you, Paul... you're just too much a big round bouncy
ball of goodwill with a smiley face painted on it.

    There will be a lot of pre-qualified entrants, because there's a shit-load
of 'em training hard in Hobart, too.

Yeah I'm a sucker for these things Dave! I keep trying to convince
the missus that her life would be fulfilled if she bought a
    mini-Gold-Wing but she won't play!
I can't buy it myself; you understand, but I can buy it for the missus
and then just always find excuses to have to take the missus's bike to
work, to the pub, to the GP etc etc.....
{Maybe I can get it for her surprise anniversary present.... Surprise
    alright!!}

That doesn't sound like lane splitting. That sounds like lane changing. Two
completely different things in my book. Lane splitting is where you ride an
almost straight light through two lines of traffic and "split" it up the
    centre as it were.

  7. Having moved here at the start of the year after a decade on Sydney roads,
James, I can assure you they're much, much worse here.

Sydney drivers tailgate because they're irate, aggressive and want to get to
    where they're going now, cahn.

Down here, they're up each other's clacker becasue they're in too much of a
blissful daze to notice otherwise, and, frankly, I'd rather have them doing
it on purpose than due to inattention.

On balance, though, this place is paradise. I think I've seen cops booking
people a total of, maybe, five-six times in the time that I've been here,
and unlike what would've happened in Sydney, none of those people was me.

Like I said, I prefer to use local terms, and don't know what they used.
Sorry, I'm post-war and was referring to the early 70's (which is a way back
    in my life anyway :)
We generally had bikes as our main form of transport and used cars as a
    secondary form of transport.

    cheers

NO it's not! it's the tool who pulls into another person's reaction space
that has "no regard for the life, health, or property of " themselves.
Absolutely no mention was made of breaking my vehicle (you don't even know
what it is but theat's irelevant).
If I am involved in a collision I WILL make an insurance claim if MY vehicle
is damaged, and yes I DO have insurance.

I never said I would accelerate AT anyone, but if you want the space, at
least be courteous enogh to ****-off quickly.

    cheers

I met someone who turned a corner onto a road and put their bike under a large
truck. Typical response "Sorry mate, I didn't see you". It was the rider who
was apologizing to the truck driver.
You won't be suited to riding at all unless you have at least a little bit of
a persecution complex. Maybe you can pretend you're jewish or something, just
while while you're riding, it may be similar.
oh go on, I really think you'll like it.

I agree he copped (and keeps copping) a heap of stupid "you're a cop so you
have to defend every government law and every other cop in the world's
actions" crap but I couldn't stand his total inability to consider an
alternate point of view (or his attitude that a cop's assumption is always
more accurate than any fact or history presented!)

    AND he's not a bikie.

(And he probably is mean to small dogs)

  16. Like most non truck drivers ever give thought to truck drivers, too, bike
    riders included.

  17. It is also a possibility that many bikes have a tendance to apear in places
a car would not, because cars are bound by the limits of their physical size
    & acceleration.

  18. I know you can use the old funnel & hose trick to piss while driving, but
would it work on a bike?

Yes, bikes may well "appear" in places a car would not...but are they not
still bound by the limits of their physical size & acceleration also????
