    Nail it to the floor.

Christ, the *last* thing I want is an alarm that goes off if the bike
is moved. The fucking things drive me up the wall.

Shame the insurers love them and seem to almost insist on installation
if you want to insure a new bike.

I know. Which is why I went to the effort to find an insurer that
    would accept just an immobiliser.

It does, but if you're on holiday and your bike is stored outside, it
may just stop it getting half-inched. An like I said, the owner isn't
going to be there to be bothered by it.

I found want that didn't require either and was only 50 quid more.

I'd suggest some sort of cover so it's out of view.

If you're going to go to that sort of trouble, you might as well fit
it inside the house. Most people have plenty of space in their attic.

TBH it wasn't an entirely serious suggestion...

I know that, you bloody idiot. I was just playing along.

I was hoping to get to the stage where the solar panel is in the
attic, with a sun lamp focussed on it.

oh. I thought you meant put the *bike* in the attic.

Come to that, why can't the OP just stick the bike in his hallway if
    he's that worried about it?

My neighbours in this group of flats might take offence to a big smelly
dirty bike blocking the entrance to their homes. Anyway I dont want a
heart attack trying to get the bike up the steps to the entrance.

Unfortunately not for a while, I'll be out of the country for the next
month or so with work, then when i get back i've got to do the head-
races on the bike + get it MOT'd. But after thats done then yes
    definetly.
